  1. Just bumped into your sight.... Love the list highlighting a variety of deep & mild conditioners. Happy to see Le Kair properly mentioned as a mild but effetive protien treatment. I cringe whenever I hear or see women promoting harsh protiens or scary recconstruttors for black hair. With a healthy diet some excersie & the proper intake of vital minerals we all can reach long healthy hair goals, great skin & clear minds. Love the sight thus so far.

    1. hi there, i would classify The africa´s best hair Mayonnaise as a medium to heavy protein treatment. However if you have issues with mineral oil you probably should not use this product because it does have mineral oil listed as the 4th ingredient. protein treatments should be used especially on chemicaly treated( relaxers or dyes)hair or heat damaged hair to restore the protein in them that has been destroyed during these processes.
mild protein treatments can be used weekly whereas medium to heavy proteins should be used about every two weeks to once a month. however since we all have different hair types it might be a good idea to watch how your hair reacts to the product. it is also very important to always do a moisture treatment either right after a protein treatment or mixed with a protein treatment to maintain a moisture protein balance.
Natural hair that is not heat damaged usually needs very little proteins to be added to them since the hair is still very healthy.

    1. Lustra silk mango shea butter is no longer being produced by the manufacturers which is such a pity because it was a really good deep conditioner. unfortunately shops in nairobi can be so unreliable. I guess it is better to just keep trying to check if the products are back in stock. Beauty wholesales and supercosmetics are usually very well stocked. I also discovered that most tuskys epscially the big ones do have a lot of hair products which are quite good. check them out too.

  23. Your blog is very very helpful. Thanks for the useful tips. I have natural hair with little volume and i would like to put dreadlocks. Any pointers on the types of treatment i could use to add body/ volume and make the dreads fuller with time.
I have read in some places that protein treatments would be ideal.......

    1. hi there,
protein treatments are good and what they mainly do is to repair damaged hair by filling in the damaged cuticles. They may add some thickness to the hair but i doubt that the difference will be significant. I believe that the best way to achieve the thickest hair your hair can get to is by keeping it healthy by avoiding any manipulation that will thin it out such as the use of chemicals and overuse of heat. The other thing you have to keep in mind is that not everyone can achieve thick hair this has to do with genes. just get your hair as healthy as can be and you will see a noticeable difference.

  27. Thank you very much for the list of different good protein conditioners! I had already known for years which products were protein-based, and a moisturizer. I have been using Queen Helene Cholestrol Conditioning Cream for many years, and I love it! It always leaves my hair feeling and looking amazingly soft, healthy, and shiny!

  28. While we usually get our vitamins, minerals and other essential elements through everyday food consumption, it is not always possible to achieve a balanced diet and obtain sufficient nutrients for good health due to lifestyle, lack of time, dieting, illness, bad eating habits and poor choice of food. Vitamins and supplements are the best choice to complete your body daily need of essential elements.
