  • Who are you? Take a second to think about how you would answer this question.
Did you just think of your profession, marital status, responsibilities and so on? Well you are not the only one who thought along those lines.  Faced with this question most people go like well, I am Kenyan, I am a mother, I am a wife, and I am a nurse and so on. But these really are things we do and responsibilities we have in life but they are not who we are. Society today places so much value on profession that those who do not have a recognisable profession seem to be referred to as nobodies. Ever heard of someone refer to themselves as being nobody? That is just so heartbreaking isn’t it? Because everybody is somebody! At the same time there are those who have achieved it all but they are still lost, full of anxiety  and depressed. They are on constant search to find out who they really are and unfortunately most people have no idea where to go to find themselves. Many end up in unfulfilling relationships, drugs and alcohol, depression, low self esteem and other psychological problems.

You have been placed where you are for a reason and your father in heaven is the only one who knows for which purpose he created you. You are one of a kind, special in every way possible. Let God download your instruction manual to you by getting to know His heart for you. Have you ever had those moments where you had bought a gadget which seemed to be working well and then suddenly it didn’t? At these moments I tend to either look for the instruction manual on how to use the gadget by the gadget’s maker or I Google to find out what other people have already found out from the manufacturer. The same applies to you and God.

In the book of Matthew 16: 16-19 Jesus has a conversation with his disciples and asks them who do people say that he was? The disciples start giving all sorts of answers until Simon Peter speaks up and says “You are the Christ the son of the living God” Jesus blesses him and tells him that God the father had revealed that to him. Here comes my favourite part. Vs 18 Jesus says to Peter “And I also say to you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”  When you know who Jesus is He will tell you who you are and this is what we should strive to listen to. So the first step to knowing who you are is to know Jesus. The second step is to refuse to listen to what people say abut you if it is not in line with what God says about you. Never repeat any negative things that people say about you because words have power to create. Instead take this tip from Apostle Paul if something is NOT true, noble, just, pure, and lovely, of good report, virtuous or praiseworthy then don’t think about it. Philippians 4:8.

Lastly spend time with God and He will show you who you are and I promise you will love it. Next week I will share on how I spend time with God. Be sure to check out the post.

Do you want to know Jesus and you would like Him to show you who you are, then please contact me: growafricanhairlong@googlemail.com I would love to pray with you.

    Stay blessed!

Happy Easter ladies!!! and the few gentlemen who check out our blog ;)
Easter is a time when we remember that Jesus the son of God, who had no sin whatsoever became sin and took our place on that cross. He gave His life on that cross to make up for what went wrong in the garden of Eden and because of this great sacrifice we have been saved! the greatest gift ever for everyone who believes in Jesus as the son of God who was crucified, died and rose again on the third day and sits on the right hand of the Father. He gave us the right to become children of God! As if that was not enough He sent us His Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth and He lives in us! he is with us all the time! That is just amazing.

Over the last couple of months I have been learning to depend on God and most of the time I have had to learn the hard way. I have been in situations where I urgently needed a shoulder to cry on or rather complain on, so naturally the first people I would run to would be my friends. But I have heard to learn that friends are only human you can put them on your speed dial but they are not always available. They have their own lives to live and their own issues and sometimes they just are not available! not because they don´t want to but because sometimes they just cannot be there for me. In moments like these I realized that I have another friend who is always there and only longs for me to bring everything to Him. A friend who has the perfect solutions to all issues I may have. Slowly but surely I have put God on my speed dial. I call upon Him anytime I feel like and that is just amazing because I find comfort in Him. He has become my best friend and I am looking forward to getting to know Him better everyday.
Take a moment to review your on speed dial, who do you run to first?
God wants to be number one in every area of your life (Matt 6:33)

    Scripture Reference.
    John 16

This week as I sat in the waiting room of a doctor´s office, I needed to kill time as I waited for my turn to come. So I opened my handbag and found my notebook and a pen. I decided to start writing down all the things I was grateful to God for. I was just writing down the seventh sentence when I got called in to see the doctor.
Later on at night as I was having my quiet time with God, I suddenly heard a voice within me saying that I needed to appreciate the people in my life by showing them gratitude just as I had shown gratitude to the Lord in that Doctor´s office. It was suddenly clear to me that my relationship with others depended on my relationship with God. The more I Loved God the more I would love others, the more I was thankful to God the more I would be thankful to others.
Take some time to say thank you to the people who have been a blessing to you. My pastor always tells us not to wait until people die in order to start eulogizing how grateful we are for them. And this makes sense to me now more than ever. Do it NOW! Tell somebody THANK YOU!
On that note I would like to thank you for supporting our blog, being our facebook fans and website members. Thank you for all your input. we really appreciate you and pray that God will continue to bless you abundantly.

God bless you and thanks for reading,

I once heard someone say that what you focus on you make room for and what you fear you empower. If we focus on our fears whatever they may be then all our attention goes into that fear and we make room for that fear to have an impact on our lives. Instead of making room for fear make room for God and He will miraculously see you through.
It is time to finaly go get that degree you have always wanted, write that book you have always wanted to write, start up that business you have always had in mind because with God all things are possible.

    God bless you so much!

    Thanks for reading

Hallo beautiful people, although my Monday is almost over I just had to share what is in my heart today.  I am going to take you back to the old Testament today. There are quite a number of prophets in the old testament but one of them really stands out for  me. He lived a very Holy life and depended on God despite the difficult situations that came his way.

Daniel was even put in a Lion's den and the lions did not touch Him.
Sometimes life throws hard balls at us and it is so easy to get discouraged and to want to give up. But taking Daniel's example we learn that with our God nothing is impossible. He is able to turn every situation around if only we put our trust fully in Him.
I pray that God will send His Angel to shut the mouths of any Lions roaring in your life in Jesus Name.
Scripture reference for today is Daniel 6

Thanks for reading and stay blessed.

This is us wishing all of you God´s best in 2015!!
Every year we come up with resolutions of things we want to change or keep in our lives. Most of the time, we end up forgetting about the resolutions after January. That is why we are doing it different this year. We have made the decision to seek God with all we are.
Blogging has really helped us with our hair journeys so we are going to use this blog to share our journey with God in strong faith that you will also find encouragement in Him.

I am so privileged to have the opportunity to do the first post .
I will start by sharing a dream I had on 2nd January 2015.
I my dream I was carrying a huge bag which was obviously too heavy for me, it was so big that I actually had to drag it on the ground. Then suddenly someone came over to me and said “That bag is way too heavy for you, let me carry it for you.” I more than willingly let Him carry the bag for me and I did not think about the bag again.
    On waking up the dream kept bothering me. I kept wondering why I could not carry the that bag by myself, It just bothered me that I could not carry it. Later on during the day as I was doing my dishes, I heard a voice within me saying “You mean you have no idea who helped you carry that bag in that dream” Right then and there my dream made perfect sense. The person who carried my bag was Jesus! Immediately I googled up the scripture that says this exact thing and found;

Matthew 11:28 (New King James Version)

Come to Me , all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

This verse has never been more alive to me since then. Sometimes we focus so much on our difficult situations that we forget about the one who can take the burden from us. Jesus wants to help us carry our heavy loads. I have given Him all of mine and I hope that you also find the rest that I have found by giving Him all of your Heavy bags.

    God bless you!
    Joanne
