My long term transition Ends!!! I am fully Natural

July 31, 2014

Hallo everyone! I have wanted to do this post since 24th of June when I actually chopped off my relaxed ends (My dear sister did it for me and she did a great job) I thank God that my phone is working again and I can make hair pictures :)

My plan was to transition for 24 months, but I ended up doing it (transitioning) at 17 months post relaxer. My last relaxer was on 30th January 2013. If you missed out on my reasons for transitioning to natural please click here to read the post about that.

I am really loving my natural hair. In my opinion it is much easier to care for than when it was relaxed or while I was still transitioning. And the best part is that I can detangle my hair under the shower and it will still be detangled during styling. While I was still transitioning  that was impossible as my hair was always full of tangles. The other thing I really love about my natural hair is that I can just wash it and literally go!!

Now to the things I don´t like about my natural hair. The first thing I don´t like is the shrinkage. even though my hair is a little past shoulder length it shrinks to neck length when it is dry. The second thing I don´t like are the single strand knots. on a few occasions my hair has been so knotted that I had to cut the knots out. during the first days it was a lot harder now I think that I have gotten it under control with regular washes and detangling.

Are you newly natural? what challenges are you facing with your hair?

  3. Congrats on completing your transition. Your hair looks beautiful.
I'm transitioning and am currently 5 months post. I'm having trouble with detangling my hair on wash day. Could you perhaps help me with a transitioning regimen and what tips you have for detangling transitioning hair. Thanks

  4. Congratulations on your transition, you make it look so easy. I have been natural for a year now and my biggest challenge is detangling my hair and dealing with dryness.....kindly advise on how to combat dryness.

    1. Thank you very much, I think the only way to combat dryness is by keeping your hair moisturised. A good moisturising conditioner, moisturiser and an oil should do the trick. Sometimes even just water and a bit of glycerin and a few drops of oil can work wonders in keeping hair moisturised.
